NATIONAL YOUTH PARLIAMENT FINALS ON MARCH 5 AND 6

The finals of the National Youth Parliament Festival 2024 will be held on 5th & 6th March 2024 in the Central Hall of Parliament. The event will be telecast live on Lok Sabha TV, Doordarshan and webcast by NIC. The webcast link for the event is https://webcast.gov.in/parliament.  The Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India has been organizing the 5 th edition of National Youth Parliament Festival – 2024 from 9 th February to 6th March 2024 across the country. This Youth Parliament Festival is being organized at three levels covering 785 districts of the county. The theme for the 5th edition of the festival this year is “Young Voices: Engage and Empower for Nation’s Transformation”.

As per schedule, the District Youth Parliament Festival had been organized from 9th February 2024 to 14th February, 2024. The winners of the District Youth Parliament festival 2024 participated in the State Youth Parliament Festival held from 19th to 24th February, 2024.  Eighty-seven (87) State level winners will now be assembling in New Delhi for the finals in the National Youth Parliament-2024 to be held in the Central Hall of the Parliament on 5th and 6th March, 2024 in which 29 winners of State level Parliaments will get the opportunity to speak before the National Jury for final selection of first, second and third positions.

The National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) is an extraordinary platform for young Indians to engage in constructive dialogue, hone their debating skills, and gain insights into the working of India’s democratic institutions. The 2024 edition of NYPF promises to be even more dynamic, with a focus on harnessing the potential of India’s vibrant youth population.

NYPF is a flagship program organized by India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, often in collaboration with organizations like the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. The festival aims to Foster a spirit of democratic participation among youth and provide opportunities for young leaders to voice their opinions on pressing national issues. It also aims to encourage a culture of debate, discussion, tolerance and sensitize youth to the functioning of parliamentary democracy.

NYPF provides a unique stage for youth to articulate their perspectives and contribute meaningfully to public discourse. Participants develop critical thinking, communication, and negotiation skills that are invaluable in all walks of life. NYPF brings together young minds from diverse backgrounds, fostering collaboration and a sense of community. The festival simulates the proceedings of the Indian Parliament, giving participants a firsthand understanding of democratic processes.

The 4th National Youth Parliament Festival 2022-2023 was organized from 25th to 29th January 2023 and 3rd to 7th February 2023 through virtual mode at District & State level. 2.01 Lakh Youth from 763 Districts participated at pre screening process in 28 States and 8 UTs. 7,140 Youth of the country took part in District Youth Parliament Festival. Total 1407 1st and 2nd District Awardees contested at State Youth Parliaments (SYPs). 85 State Awardees from all States/UTs participated in National Youth Parliament from 1 st and 2nd March, 2023 at Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi. On 2 nd March 2023, top 3 winners shared their thoughts in presence of the Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha, Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Nisith Pramanik, Hon’ble Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports. This was followed by interactive session with the with the participants and address to the youth.
