The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released a new educational module, “Operation Sindoor – A Mission of Honour and Bravery”, aimed at providing school students with a detailed understanding of India’s military response to terrorism. The module focuses on India’s reaction to the 2025 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed 26 innocent people, and the subsequent military operation, Operation Sindoor, launched by the Indian Armed Forces.
Educational Value and Content
Targeted at secondary and preparatory school students, the module offers insights into India’s strategy in tackling cross-border terrorism and defending national security. The module is divided into two sections, one for students in classes 3 to 8 and another for those in classes 9 to 12. It outlines the timeline of events leading to the Pahalgam attack, detailing Pakistan’s role in supporting terrorism and India’s firm response.
In addition to discussing the operation, the module also covers historical context, including the 2019 Pulwama attack and the Balakot air strike, offering a comprehensive view of India’s approach to combating terrorism.
