The National Council for Teacher Training launched a four-year integrated teacher training programme to lessen the time usually taken to complete a B.A-B.Ed, B.sc-B.Ed or B.com- B.Ed course. Teacher training programmes post graduation has been a concerning topic among students. The four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) brings relief to students who aspire to be an educator. As of now, the course has been launched in 57 institutions for the 2023-24 academic session.
ITEP is a dual-major holistic undergraduate course that combines B.A-B.Ed, B.sc-B.Ed or B.com-B.Ed. The programme is well suited for the new school structure that divides the curriculum into four major chunks – foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary (5+3+3+4). National Educational Policy (NEP), 2020 transformed school education completely and ITEP will cover all its facets to train teachers in the right manner.
Admission for the course will be conducted by the National Testing Agency through NCET. “ITEP will not only impart cutting-edge pedagogy but will also establish a foundation in early childhood care and education (ECCE), foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), inclusive education and an understanding of India and its values/ethos/art/traditions, among others.”, said an official.
