The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a comprehensive strategy to enhance educational resources in its schools for the fiscal year 2024-25. This plan encompasses the distribution of 9,000 computer tablets to students, improvements to sports training facilities, and the introduction of nature based classrooms.
NDMC member Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced on Wednesday, the council’s plan of establishing a wrestling center at the Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya situated on Mandir Marg. According to reports from PTI, NDMC member indicated that the NDMC seeks to achieve Viksit Bharat@2047 through contemporary educational infrastructure and promoting green energy.
According to NDMC the project entails the distribution of 9,000 computer tablets to benefit students in Classes 9 to 12, as well as Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) and Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) across all schools.
Presently, the NDMC oversees 43 schools with an approximate student population of 28,000. During the pandemic, the council initiated a program that supplied 811 computer tablets to students in Classes 10 and 12.
With a focus on improving sports infrastructure, the NDMC currently engages 14 part-time sports coaches across eight sports. In addition, they are in the process of recruiting 10 more coaches specifically for table tennis and wrestling to provide professional coaching during both school and after-school hours.
NDMC is implementing the installation of synthetic tracks in parks, starting with Nehru Park, covering a distance of 2.7 km. The positive feedback has prompted a similar initiative at Sanjay Park for the fiscal year 2024-25, featuring a 1.3 km track with a cost of Rs 1.60 crore. These tracks aim to improve the overall experience for park-goers, especially the elderly, while addressing dust-related concerns.
