Speaking about the new Education Policy, Promini Chopra, Principal of Seth M.R. Jaipuria School in Lucknow, which has other 55 branches all over the country, expresses that children must be involved in performing arts, studying academic subjects and various kinds of research to aim for their favourite subject

Q) What is your opinion about the new education system?

A) We believe that nothing can be taught. Education is within child, where he should be exposed to a lot of things, so that the child can find himself, his interest and then take himself forward. I feel that the new education policy is a boon because it is giving a lot of flexibility to children. The regimented kind of education that is prevalent all these years, to study, to pass in exams, within a stipulated time. There are so many things which are happening in life- it’s not always possible to follow that pattern.
Opinions of children keep changing. Hence the child should be exposed to maximum things around him. Suppose a child is studying Economics, after a while he may change his mind after experiencing something more interesting, when he comes across that aspect. So the best way is to give the child, experience in performing arts, in different subjects, academic subjects and lot of research, so that the child can find easily his space.

The problem we face in the country is employability. We are simply churning out graduates and post-graduates and they are not employable, because the joy of learning and working is not there. I feel probably the new education policy would reverse that trend.
