The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has made some adjustments to the exam format to assist learners and enhance their academic results. NIOS declared that starting from April,2024, learners will receive an extra 15 minutes for reading. This change will take place from April-May 2024 onwards.
Students will now have an extended reading period from 2:15 pm to 2:30 pm. Applicants are advised to stay updated either here or on the official website for further updates and details. Commencing with the forthcoming exam cycle in April-May 2024, students will receive an additional 15 minutes of reading time from 2:15 pm to 2:30 pm before the exam begins. NIOS clarified that this reading period aims to allow students to carefully review the question paper without writing any answers during this time frame.
The notice by the NIOS stated that the objective behind this provision is to align NIOS learners with their counterparts from other school education boards, ensuring equal academic opportunities and facilitating a better examination environment. NIOS believes that this change will aid in reducing examination stress and improve the overall performance of the learners.
Furthermore, the notice advises all learners to make effective use of this additional time to thoroughly comprehend the questions, plan their answers strategically, and approach the exam with confidence. For most subjects, the board conducts Class 10 and 12 exams for three hours. This year, in 2024, exams were scheduled from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm for the majority of papers, with candidates granted an extra 15 minutes from 10:15 am to 10:30 am to understand the question paper.
