Students with biology as additional subject are eligible for NEET UG

The National Medical Commission (NMC) announced on Wednesday, that students in the 12th standard who took subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology or biotechnology along with English even as an additional subject, can sit for the NEET-UG examination. NMC also declared that applications of students, those were rejected previously, its even applicable for them. According to the Medical Council of India the students must study subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology or biotechnology for two years, that is in class 11 and 12, including practical.

The study should be completed from regular schools and not from any open school or as a private individual. The notice that was released by NMC on their website mentioned that the study of biology or biotechnology or any other requisite subject, cannot be completed as an additional subject after passing 12th exams.

The MCI had already regulated the provisions of the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997. NEET UG 2024 will be held in May.
