There is also an increase in the number of examination centres across the country
The NTA has started the registration process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) 2023 examination. The candidates have to apply from NTA’s official website.
The registration fee for CUET PG 2023 is Rs 1000 for the general category students, and Rs 800 for the OBC-NCL/Gen-EWS category students, Rs 750 for SC/ST/third gender, and Rs 700 for PwBD candidates.
The NTA has decided to raise the application fee due to the rise in the cost of operations. The application fee has been decided on the basis of an estimate of the cost required to conduct the exam. This includes the fact that number of universities participating in the exam has also rose in number this year. This also leads to an increase in the number of different subjects, and different expectations.
The increased cost is also to match up the constant development of security, and also for ensuring that the exams are conducted in a safe manner. The NTA has taken up the maintenance and up-gradation of safety as a constant endeavour. The other reasons behind the increase in application fee of CUET 2023 are additional manpower of observers and technical software which incurs more cost.
The increase in the number of exam centres is another reason why NTA has increased the application fees from time to time. The NTA will try to ensure that as many as much people will get their desired exam centres. Before, candidates were allowed to keep 4 cities of their choice for the exam. But, this time, NTA has reduced the number to 2. The increase in number of cities has come on back of the technical glitches that took place in the exam centres last year.
