This year Overseas Citizen of India or Person of Indian Origin (OCI/PIO) will get the opportunity to sit for JEE (Advanced), 2023 without appearing for JEE (Mains), 2023. The update was given by IIT Guwahati. During seat allocation process in IITs, the OPI/PIO candidates who qualify JEE (Advanced) would be eligible to compete for ‘Open Category’ seats in General and Person with Disability (PwD) categories as will be applicable. Woman candidates in the OPI/PCI category will also be considered for Open Female Supernumerary seats in General and PwD categories as will be applicable.
The fees to be paid by OPI/PCI students has been revised and is at par with the fees that is to be paid by nationals. The decision makes the process easier for students living outside India who might not be able to afford the travel expenditure and mental pressure that comes with attending multiple phases of an exam outside their residential place. The decision has been drawn owing to Supreme Court’s February 3 judgment. The Joint Admission Board has hence, made changes in the information brochure of JEE (Advanced), 2023 accordingly. The same is available on their website that you access at jeeadv.ac.in.
