The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, has released their assessment patterns for Class 10th or Madhyama and Class 12th or HSC courses. According to the notification issued, the internal assessments will continue being conducted in four formative assessments. Each quarter will have one assessment.
Class 10 students will have one summative assessment conducted at the year-end with 100 marks in each subject. There will be 50 marks for multiple choice questions and 50 marks for subjective answer type questions.
The official notice read, “One year-ending examination will also be conducted for the Madhyama course, out of 100/75 marks having 50/40 marks of MCQs and 50/35 marks of subjective questions.” This implies that subjects having full marks of 100 will have MCQs and subjective questions each for 50 marks, while for subjects having full marks of 75, the MCQs will be for 40 marks and subjective questions will be for 35 marks.
The question paper pattern and distribution of marks for the exams will be notified soon. The board will follow a similar procedure for Class 9 in both HSC and Madhyama courses.
The board will prepare question papers for year-end exams of Class 9 and half-yearly exams of Class 10 and give them to the District Education Officer who will forward it to the schools. This will be done to maintain uniformity. The results will be declared at the school level.
Students will be able to apply for supplementary exams only after the year-end exams. Aspirational components will also be a part of internal assessments.
