The newly formed BJP government has announced a new colour scheme for the uniforms of students in classes 9 and 10 at government and aided schools. According to the official directive, the updated uniforms will incorporate a combination of light brown, chocolate, and clay-baked yellow.
For girls, the uniform will consist of a checkered kurta paired with a maroon jacket and salwar. Boys will wear light brown shirts along with checkered pants. Other than this, both boys’ and girls’ uniforms will have pockets in a dark brown colour.
Presently the school uniforms consist of a green and white colour scheme, allegedly aligning with the colour code of the BJD’s party symbol.
The School and Mass Education department in a letter to the Directory of Secondary Education announced that the secondary school students now will be switching to new uniforms. It also stated that the new uniforms will be implemented only in the schools where uniforms are already following the existing colour code, that are yet to be stitched or distributed.
New uniforms have been chosen for government and government-aided secondary school students under the “Chief Minister’s Student’s Wear Scheme,”. It was been instructed that the new uniforms should be distributed among the schools where the previous uniforms have not been stitched or provided.
