On this teacher’s day, Dr Sunanda KC, the Principal of Nehru International School, Coimbatore, talks about her journey as a teacher and the source she draws inspiration from in life.
I began my career as a teacher and I continue to hold my passion for teaching. Teachers need to find the passion for teaching only then can they make learning enjoyable. My request to teachers would be to do something new every day and add that spark that’s missing in the field of teaching.
I take my inspiration from my teachers. My science teacher would always bring something to the class, something new and something different so I remember looking forward to his class all the time.
We got to know the latest development explained in a way we could understand. Some of the topics we discussed in class were not part of our syllabus but his passion inspired all of us. We would read the science and technology section in the newspaper religiously only to discuss them in class the next day. A teacher who has a passion for her subject would have every child excited and eager to learn.
A teacher’s passion for teaching would ultimately trickle down to his/her students and instill in them a joy of learning. Her role does not end with being a teacher only, but goes way beyond that. May every teacher realize that and continue to inspire.
I would like to wish a Happy Teachers Day to all the teachers in our society!
