On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Brainfeed took the opportunity to recognize the efforts of twenty exceptional women leaders in the field of education. We featured them in our cover story “Women Edupreneurs” of March 2023 edition of the Brainfeed Magazine. These women leaders focused and strived for creating a positive ecosystem at their workplace that helped other women in contributing to their fullest and ushering in the much needed change. Each one of these women educational entrepreneurs shared what it took them to successfully complete their entrepreneurial journey during which they have explored and found new identities for themselves and other women working with them.

Here are excerpts from the interview.

Journey as an Edupreneur

My parents devoted their lives to education. As a kid this inspired me and soon I wanted to contribute to the field. Hence, I began really early in my career. I started working at the age of 15. Since then, I’ve loved engaging in the intricacies of school management. My passion drove me towards getting a degree in education. So far, it has been a great journey.  We have more than 250 schools right now across India and the neighbouring counties. I love the field because it not only nurtures young minds but also provides employment to so many. Education as a field is very inclusive and that also adds to the beauty of the industry.

Any particular woman you look upto?

You don’t have to look too far while searching for a woman who truly inspired you. I look up to my mother as a role model and have followed in her footsteps. Sanfort was actually her brainchild. It was her passion that eventually culminated in the formation of the school. Coming from a middle-class family where women were not allowed to work, it was not easy for my mother. She went against the tide to make her dream come true. Originally my mother wanted to build a pre-school and no wonder, now it has become so huge. So yes, definitely my mother is my role model.

Challenges faced as an edupreneur

I started really young in my career. Hence, when I joined, nobody took me seriously. Young people who join the field might eventually face this problem. However, if you are able to sustain during the time, you’ll fare well in the field in the long run. Education as a field is limitless. If you put in your hardwork and dedication in it, you will be rewarded. There is no end to the perks and hikes of being in the education field.

Message to women who aspire to work in the field of education

Education as a field is both fulfilling and comforting. It is a woman-centric field and provides ample opportunities for one to grow and flourish. This is the reason so many women join the field. If you are someone who aspires to work in the field, be at ease because you are going to get so much help from your seniors and colleagues. There are limitless opportunities in the education sector, so grab them and make your dreams come true.
