‘Our Career Guidance & Counseling is conducted on ICAP framework’

1. When did you start the company and how did you get the idea?

A1. We started this initiative in 2017 to help high school students make an informed career choice and achieve success in their careers through Career Guidance, One-On-One Career Counseling, and Mentorship. 

The idea struck me when I was a student in an Engineering college. I realized that I was not very interested in Computer Programming. Upon asking my hostel mates, I realized that they are not very interested in their chosen career either. Everyone is here just because they were uninformed about career options and were guided by societal stereotypes.

After providing Career Guidance & Counseling to more than 35,000 students across India, we came on board with Toprankers to expand our outreach and to help students prepare for the entrance exams they choose. This year, we have provided Career Guidance & Counseling to more than 12,000 students across India where we increased Career Planning by a whopping 74%.

2. What comprises the test?

A2. Our Career Guidance & Counseling is conducted on the basis of the ICAP framework where we find out a student’s Interests, Career Preferences, Aptitudes, and Personality Type through Psychometric Testing. We have 4 Psychometric Tests, one for each of these aspects. Our Interest Test is based on the Holland Codes, Career Preference Test is based on the Career Preference Record, Aptitude Test is based on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, and Personality Test is based on the Big 5 Personality Traits. Each test has 35-100 questions and takes not more than 30-90 minutes.

3. What is the methodology you use to conduct tests for students?

A3. These tests are conducted online on Toprankers’ platform and the student can take it themselves or if requested, under supervision. Eventually, we also plan to extend this facility to our 30 offline centres across India so that students can take it from there.

4. How many aptitude tests do you conduct?

A4. We conduct 1 Aptitude Test which tests students on 11 kinds of aptitudes. Namely,

– Verbal Aptitude

– Numerical Aptitude

– Musical Aptitude

– Logical Aptitude

– Interpersonal Aptitude

– Visual-Spatial Aptitude

– Intrapersonal Aptitude

– Bodily-Kinesthetic (Fine Motor) Aptitude

– Bodily-Kinesthetic (Gross Motor) Aptitude

– Naturalistic (Bio-Chem) Aptitude

– Naturalistic (STEM) Aptitude

Based on its result as well as the results of our Interest, Career Preference, and Personality Test along with the student exploration experience and discussion with the student and parents, we help them make the final career choice and career plan.

5. How many students take your tests every year?

A5. This year, we provided Career Guidance & Counseling to more than 12,000 students across India out of which 4,000 students took our Psychometric Tests and received One-On-One Counseling from us.
