Pankaj Advani aces as the world champion for the 20th time

Pankaj Advani, India’s ace cueist won the IBSF billiards for the third time in the 150-up format and took his total tally to a whopping 20. In a high-quality final, Pankaj defeated Myanmar’s Nay Thway Oo. He will be competing in the ‘Up’ format (longer version) starting immediately.

Nay, who made Myanmar proud by reaching the finals after winning against multiple world champion Mike Russell by a 5-2 victory was not given any breathing space by Pankaj in the finals. Even the local crowd was left dumbstruck by Pankaj’s prowess, who seemed to be on a mission to win the title.

He said “This win is extremely special for me. It’s a perfect 20 and I’m glad that I’m still hungry for more. It’s pleasing to be able to play at a quality level over the years and looking to take this tally beyond a ‘score’.” This win also marks his hat-trick in the 150-up format as he had already won the 2016 version in Bengaluru and the Doha version in 2017.

Pankaj also created a record by dropping only a total of three frames: two in the finals and one against Dhvaj Haria.
