On Thursday, numerous areas in Bihar witnessed a significant drop in temperatures, as reported by the IMD. Places like Dehri and Banka registered the state’s lowest at 4.4 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that minimum temperatures across the state, including Patna, are likely to range between 6 and 11 degrees Celsius over the coming three to four days.
As stated by the IMD, Dehri and Banka recorded the lowest temperatures in Bihar, followed by Aurangabad at 6.7 degrees Celsius, Buxar at 7.1 degrees Celsius, Bhagalpur at 7.6 degrees Celsius, and Gaya and Arwal at 7.8 degrees Celsius each.
Vaishali reported 8.4 degrees Celsius, Saharsa 8.5 degrees Celsius, and Sitamarhi 8.6 degrees Celsius whereas in Patna the temperature was 10.6 degrees Celsius. The cold wave has led to dense fog in several areas, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting daily life.
To safeguard students from the harsh cold, the Patna district administration has adjusted school schedules. As per an official directive, all private and government schools will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from January 2 to January 6. This includes pre-schools, anganwadi centers, and coaching centers.
Consequently, with the state still grappling with the cold wave, authorities have urged residents to take essential measures to ensure their safety during these frigid conditions.
