The Delhi government has mandated that private schools, allocated land by the government, must obtain prior approval from the Directorate of Education (DoE) before increasing fees for the 2024-25 academic session. According to the order, private schools recognized by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for land allocation cannot increase fees without explicit approval from the Directorate of Education. They are required to adhere to the latest approved fee structure or the fee statement they have submitted. This directive is in alignment with Section 17 of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEAR), 1973, which prohibits private unaided schools from enhancing fees without prior sanction from the Director of Education.
Given this, all principals and administrators of recognized private unaided schools have been directed to submit their requests for fee increases for the 2024-25 academic session to the Director of Education online through the Directorate’s website. The submission deadline is from April 1, 2024, to April 15, 2024. Any incomplete proposals will be promptly rejected. The Director or authorized officers will review the submitted proposals. Schools that fail to submit proposals are expressly prohibited from raising any fees until approval is granted by the Director of Education (DoE). Complaints regarding fee hikes without prior approval will be treated seriously and could lead to legal action against the school in question. The order also states that the link for online proposal submissions will be accessible soon on the Directorate’s website, which can be accessed HERE.
