The Banasthali Vidyapith in Rajasthan, an educational institution for school-going girls and college-going women, was honored with the 25th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award. This award was given in recognition of the institution’s continuous efforts in promoting peace, communal harmony, and national unity. The institution was founded in 1935 by Pandit Hiralal Shastri, Rajasthan’s first chief minister, and presently educates girls from nursery school to doctoral levels. The former Vice President of India, M Hamid Ansari, presented the award.
The Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award was Established in 1992 to mark the Quit India Movement’s golden jubilee. This award recognizes those dedicated to fostering social harmony. This award, carrying a prize of Rs 10 lakhs and a citation, is given on an annual basis on the birth anniversary of the late ex-Indian Prime Minster Rajiv Gandhi.
