Priyadeep Sinha, 24, Founder of Kidovators talks to Brainfeed Higher Education Plus about the backend research style for designing courses.
Q. How Kidovators is different from other online learning firms?
While most education companies and online learning firms are focused on the curricular aspects of learning and created around subjects taught in school, Kidovators has taken the mantle of helping kids learn 21st century skills and competencies which are mostly outside the currently structured school curriculum. Our work helps kids explore and find solutions to open ended problem statements through exercising creativity and critical thinking.
Q. How do you decide your course structure for the benefit of the end user?
Our course structure is created by our internal academic team and vetted by experts before being provided to students to learn from. We have also done in-depth research on the work done by expert psychologists and behaviour scientists, and taken inspiration from their work to design courses on creativity and critical thinking.
Q. How did you get your first investor?
For us, our first external investors were our University Incubator (MUTBI), M Chandrasekaran (former Corporate Advisor, Manipal Group) and Luis Miranda (Former Founding Chairman, IDFC PE). It was not a very big challenge because our investors believed in our vision and believed that we were equipped to take the challenge of providing 21st century skills education to students across India.

Q. What is your expansion plan for Kidovators and do you plan to expand your curriculum to the higher education students and researchers?
We intend to take Kidovators to more schools, students and educators across India. With over 350 schools directly engaged with us and 600 overall, we would like to double the number of schools over the next 2 – 3 years. We are also looking at markets outside India for our programs since these are all geography and curriculum agnostic. We have not yet looked at expanding to higher education but we know that there is a big market for our work at Kidovators in that sector.
Q. How do you evaluate post course reports of students who subscribe to your courses and the changes it bought to their life or career?
We do it constantly over the duration of the course through open ended questions presented to the students during the course. We also use our Creativity and Critical Thinking Olympiads to evaluate students where we are able to see the performance variation of students who have undergone our courses versus those who have not. We are also able to see performance variation of the same student over the course of multiple years through the program.
