School students stay back after I-D event at Red Fort to collect plastic waste

by

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day message on cutting plastic-use, children who had come to the Red Fort, have set an example for others by staying back to collect the plastic waste, banana peels, cups, etc strewn around the venue after the event. They have set an example and are making others to follow.

Modi also appealed to people to take a pledge on October 2 to make the country free of single-use plastic, during his address from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

The PM said in his 92-minute sixth Independence day address that it is possible for us to free India from single-use plastic? On October 2 is it possible for us to take the first step towards this initiative? To help recycle plastic, he has also invited industries and start-ups.

If people can shift to cloth bags, he said everyone can encourage shopkeepers to scrap the use of plastic bags.
