Amidst escalating tensions over the Cauvery issue, the deputy commissioner of Bengaluru has issued an official declaration of a city-wide holiday, on the 26th of September, for all schools and colleges in response to the bandh called for by various political parties and pro-Kannada associations.

By yesterday afternoon, numerous schools had proactively declared a shutdown due to concerns about security. Encouraged by their successful experiences with online classes during the pandemic, a few of these schools swiftly transitioned to online learning with minimal notice. Bengaluru City University has also rescheduled its undergraduate exams.
