Two Indian schools, one from Gujarat and the other from Maharashtra, have emerged as top contenders for the prestigious $250,000 World’s Best School Prizes 2023. The two Indian schools in contention for the World’s Best School Prizes 2023 are Snehalaya English Medium School located in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, and Riverside School situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Snehalaya English Medium School, a charitable institution, has brought about a remarkable transformation in the lives of children who are living with HIV/AIDS and those belonging to sex worker families. Their efforts have effectively put an end to second-generation prostitution within their district. Consequently, the school has earned a place among the top three finalists for the World’s Best School Prize for Overcoming Adversity in 2023.
The Riverside School, an international educational institution, has garnered global acclaim for its student-focused approach to learning, notably through its innovative I CAN pedagogical model. This achievement has secured its position as one of the top three finalists for the World’s Best School Prize for Innovation in 2023.
The five World’s Best School Prizes, which recognize achievements in community collaboration, environmental action, innovation, overcoming adversity, and supporting healthy lives, honor schools worldwide for their pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of learners and their significant contributions to societal advancement, especially in the context of the COVID pandemic, as stated in an official announcement. Each of the five prize categories carries a reward of US$50,000, with the total prize pool amounting to US$250,000, to be equally divided among the winners.
