According to a circular issued by the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education, schools in Delhi have been instructed to establish a committee for conducting surprise bag inspections to prevent students from carrying any items that may pose a threat to others. Additionally, schools must ensure that security personnel regularly inspect students’ bags at the gates and that CCTV cameras are operational at all times. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has noted several incidents where students have been involved in quarrels and altercations both within and outside school premises during school hours.
According to the circular issued, all heads of government and private schools in Delhi are instructed to exert maximum effort to guarantee the safety and security of students within school premises. The circular emphasizes the importance of implementing a well-defined framework to ensure safety practices for students, parents, and staff, thus making schools a safe and secure environment for all. Hence, all heads of government and private schools are instructed to establish a committee to conduct random or surprise checks of students’ school bags in classrooms. The aim is to ensure that no student carries any item that could potentially harm others.
School heads are instructed to direct all entry gate guards to regularly inspect bags for any unwanted or inappropriate items to prevent untoward incidents. Additionally, they must ensure that CCTVs are installed and operational at all times. Visitors should be prohibited from entering classrooms and staff rooms.
