The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has instructed the closure of schools, colleges, and non-essential government offices in Delhi until July 16 due to flooding caused by the overflowing Yamuna River. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reported that over 20,000 individuals have already been relocated to relief camps, with 50 boats available for rescue operations and more to be deployed if necessary.
Kejriwal stated that all educational institutions will remain closed until Sunday and mentioned plans to transfer people from the relief camps to school buildings that have suitable toilet facilities.
Additionally, on July 14, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida were closed. The recent monsoon rains in northern India have resulted in extensive damage, such as waterlogging, road and house collapses, and significant traffic congestion.
