Schools and colleges in Himachal Pradesh will remain closed today, that is on 16th August due to heavy rains.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted massive rainfall in the next 24 hours in many parts of the state. University of Himachal Pradesh also has suspended all classes till 19th August.
State government issued orders on 15th August that yesterday for school closure for all the classes. These orders are applied to both government and private schools. Moreover, colleges, universities and other educational centres will also be closed today. Both parents and students are recommended to remain in contact with the school authorities for more updates.
Weather situations in most part of Himachal Pradesh are getting worse and thus, for safety of students, schools and colleges are declared to remain close today as well. As per official notification, Himachal Pradesh Government published orders of school closure on 16th August.
University of Himachal Pradesh also has suspended all of their classes till 19th August and University Library will be closed till 20th August. However, teachers and staff members are needed to come to the institutes. This decision is taken to avoid bad weather in the state.
Severe rains caused many landslides and roadblocks and therefore, for student’s safety and security, the Vice-Chancellor has ordered suspension of classes in schools, colleges and universities of Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh is constantly experiencing a disastrous situation of flash floods, leading to severe damage both to lives and properties. However, IMD forecasted heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in many parts. Henceforth, IMD has raised “red alert” for states that gradually can decrease to “orange alert” based on weather conditions.
