SDG-FESTIVAL Ahlcon International Celebrates the Sustainable Development Goals

25th September 2018 marked the 3rd anniversary of the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals by the UN. Ahlcon International School embarked on the journey, making it a memorable event in August itself. They organised SDG FEST- 2018 comprised of seven different categories of activities based on the SDGs and spread across K-12.

The valedictory function was graced by the Chief guest, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, Honorary Secretary of the Judah Hyam Synagogue, Mr Brahmam Kakani, Chief Editor Brainfeed magazine, Principal, Mr. Ashok Kumar Pandey, Headmaster, Mr. Puneet Duggal, Headmistress, Ms. Dimple Puri and other dignitaries. The teachers and students from participating schools were the special guests of the day. The event began with the SDG anthem – ‘We are the change, we are the teachers’, sung by the choir of teachers whose melody enthralled one and all. A play based on the SDG 5 – Gender Equality, was staged by the students of class 1 which captivated the audience with its theme and humour.

Two outstanding SDG Goalkeepers of Ahlcon, Paridhi Puri and Ayush Chopra, presented their perspective on the Global goals. This was followed by prize distribution ceremony where in the Chief guest, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar and the dignitaries gave away the prizes to the winners of the onlinecompetitions.

Right from inviting the registration to receiving entries for events, all actions were completedonline. The thought being that we save our children from being exposed to pollution, avoidable travel time,save all from being harassed by the heavy traffic of the city and use ICT skills.

With the cooperation of our partners in the journey, the SDG FEST – 2018 has been a true success, with 22 schools and 700 students participating most enthusiastically in the 7 events covering students from Nur to class XII.

In his address, the Chief Guest congratulated the school and applauded the efforts of the Principal, teachers and students who are constantly working to make the Global Goals a reality.
