Senior bureaucrat Rahul Singh assumes charge as Chairperson of CBSE

On 27 March, 2024, senior bureaucrat Mr. Rahul Singh assumed charge as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The official announcement, made on CBSE’s social media handle, can be accessed HERE.

As part of a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle conducted by the Centre on March 13, 2024, Mr. Rahul Singh was designated as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He succeeded Ms. Nidhi Chhibber, who was appointed as Advisor in the Niti Aayog.

According to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) sanctioned the appointment of Mr. Singh, a 1996-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Bihar cadre, as the chairperson of CBSE. Before this appointment, he held the position of Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Mr. A P Das Joshi, a 1994-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, assumed the role of Additional Secretary at the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
