Financial literacy is as critical as language and numeracy. The focus should be on judicious consumerism, purity of means and sustainable living. Mahatma Gandhi said, “the earth has enough for everybody’s needs but not for greed.” This value is the core of Indian ethos. Young students are vulnerable, and money is a devious preyer. Poor management, ostentation, and expansion of desires beyond mean can ruin careers and lives. A well-designed curriculum on money matters must include these.
