The National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh, (NIT) is making forays into more advanced forms of training and creating competent core engineers by providing quality education, research and by developing cutting edge technologies in the sector of drone technology. The institute recently organized a two-day skill development workshop on ‘Unmanned Aerial Vehicles’ (UAV) and ‘Unmanned Ground Vehicles’ (UGV) on March 5th and 6th.
It was conducted in collaboration with TiTHAN (Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation) IIT Hyderabad and OptimusLogic.
The director of NIT Andhra Pradesh, Dr C.S.P Rao while addressing the inaugural event was heard saying
“Drone Technology’ is growing at a faster rate in view of developments in edge computing recently and has potential applications in commercial, industrial, military, defence, agriculture, etc”. Many institutes and start-ups are working towards future research and development, prototyping and design testing. Therefore, it becomes essential for scholars to know the basics of Drone Design looking to pursue careers in this emerging sector”.
The two-day workshop was conducted in expectation of the following:
- Awareness and knowledge of the emerging drone technology.
- Skill enhancement and opportunity identification in the drone technology sector.
- Calibration, Design, Integration and Testing of the prototype models of the drones
- Troubleshooting
- Drone architecture through 3D printing
- Demonstration of the prototypes and a touch and feel experience.
The workshop was held at NIT Andhra Pradesh and organised jointly by TiTHAN, OptimusLogic and IIT Hyderabad in association with E Yantra Club, Department of Electrical Engineering, IEEE Student Branch and Centre for Research Innovation Incubation and Consultancy. (CRIIC)
