Starting June 2025, candidates aspiring for central government jobs can now complete the entire Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment process—from registration to final application—directly through an upgraded mobile application, significantly reducing dependence on cyber cafes and service centres.
Announced via an official notice dated June 2, 2025, the SSC confirmed that all examinations from June onwards will support mobile-based application submissions using the revamped mySSC mobile app. This is part of the Commission’s broader digital transformation initiative to enhance accessibility and user convenience.
Key Highlights of the New SSC Mobile App
- Complete Application Process: Candidates can now fill and submit the entire application form on the app, without requiring a desktop or assistance from third-party operators.
- Biometric Identity Verification: The app integrates Aadhaar-based OTP authentication and facial recognition technology to confirm candidate identities.
- Ease of Access for Rural Aspirants: SSC Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan emphasized the app’s potential to benefit rural candidates, who often face challenges accessing digital services.
“This eliminates the need for applicants to visit cyber cafes or pay intermediaries. It puts control directly into the hands of the aspirants,” said Gopalakrishnan.
Developed by Cubastion Consulting
The application was developed in partnership with Cubastion Consulting. Ravi Kumar, CEO and co-founder of the firm, described the app as a “trusted digital hiring platform” that brings fairness and security to mass recruitment.
“With the integration of Aadhaar verification and user-friendly features, we aim to make the recruitment cycle transparent and accessible—especially for those in remote locations,” Kumar said.
Until now, applicants could use the mySSC app only for limited tasks, such as capturing live photos. With this update, the app has become a one-stop solution for the entire recruitment lifecycle.
Important Technical and Procedural Details
- The app is currently available for Android devices (version 11 and above) and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
- To apply, candidates must first register on the One-Time Registration (OTR) portal using their Aadhaar number.
- Applicants are required to install the Aadhaar Face RD app on their devices to enable facial authentication.
- Despite the Aadhaar integration, SSC clarified that personal information filled in the OTR form will take precedence over any discrepancies found in Aadhaar data.
“In case of differences between demographic details in Aadhaar and the OTR form, the information entered by the candidate in OTR will be considered final,” the Commission clarified in a follow-up notice issued on June 4.
Part of a Larger Modernisation Push
The move follows SSC’s earlier decision in April 2025 to implement voluntary Aadhaar-based biometric authentication across all its examinations, as a way to enhance transparency and prevent impersonation.
The SSC, one of the largest central recruitment bodies in India, is responsible for conducting seven national-level competitive exams annually—including the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE)—as well as three departmental exams. Its new mobile-first approach is expected to streamline the recruitment process for millions of aspirants nationwide.
With this digital upgrade, the SSC continues to align its recruitment processes with the government’s broader digital inclusion goals, ensuring a fairer and more efficient hiring system.
