On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Brainfeed took the opportunity to recognize the efforts of twenty exceptional women leaders in the field of education. We featured them in our cover story “Women Edupreneurs” of March 2023 edition of the Brainfeed Magazine. These women leaders focused and strived for creating a positive ecosystem at their workplace that helped other women in contributing to their fullest and ushering in the much needed change. Each one of these women educational entrepreneurs shared what it took them to successfully complete their entrepreneurial journey during which they have explored and found new identities for themselves and other women working with them.

When it comes to women and leadership abilities, educating women is a relatively new phenomenon. Many women in our country are first-time learners. Even in the best of households, two generations of women are educated with certain exceptions. When it comes to leadership opportunities, the only reason why women are not considered is STEM education for women is a new aspect. When one looks at it, people prefer engineers in leadership positions because they have a problem-solving approach. Engineers are taught how to deal with data, how to handle it and take logical decisions because they are dealing with data throughout their studies.

Just ten years back, not many girls were applying for engineering courses. A lot of women opt for Arts and Commerce streams resulting in losing out on leadership roles.  Women are being constantly taught by society to associate more with the arts, crafts or household responsibilities. Most girls are being persuaded by their peer groups and families to take up dancing and singing as their hobbies while boys are encouraged to take up sports which are known to build up analytical skills.

Men tend to get married much later as opposed to women which again results in losing out on leadership roles.

Introducing girls to STEM education has become more important. We see women not growing in the workforce or reaching heights because they are not taught design thinking or problem-solving. Gradually we are witnessing change and the change is only about to further establish itself and become the new normal.

STEM education, though important, is expensive and it can be a problem, especially for women coming from economically backward households. Our company, STEM Metaverse, not only provides a platform to learn STEM education subjects but also acts as a medium to achieve it. With STEM Metaverse, we are constantly enabling children to upload their art and showcase their talents. This earns them scholarships to receive STEM education. Though our focus is not just subjected to girls, we exclusively want to make a change in the condition of STEM education for women.

Not just us but also we have clients coming up and investing in STEM education for women. We too provide them with granule data on the dashboard informing them of what those kids have learned. In a transparent dashboard way, with the help of our clients, we hope to see the upcoming generation of women filling in leadership roles.
