Tamil Nadu Postponed Reopening of Schools

The persistent heat wave situation in Tamil Nadu has led to the postponing of the school reopening day. Originally schools were to open on June 1 for classes 6 – 12 and on June 5 for classes 1 – 5. Reopening of schools have been postponed owing to the demand from individuals and certain groups. Minister Anbil Mahesh had announced that schools would open on June 7. However, after parents and social activities expressed their concern regarding the ongoing heatwaves, the reopening day has been further postponed. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin was consulted for that matter by the Education Minister, Abil Mahesh. After discussion, the new date of reopening of schools have been set to June 12 for classes 6 – 12 and June 14 for classes 1 -5.
