Tamil Nadu schools declared holidays due to heavy rainfall

Tamil Nadu schools have declared holidays due to heavy and drastic rainfall in multiple districts. However, students and parents in areas such as Chennai, Karaikal, Puducherry are still waiting for the announcement of holidays for the vulnerable condition that occurred due to waterlogging and traffic congestion. School holidays were announced in districts such as Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tenkasi. The holidays have been announced as per the response of the meteorological department’s forecast.

Schools will remain closed today, that is on 19th of December, 2023 in Kanyakumari and Tenkasi districts. Schools in other districts are yet to announce holidays for today. IMD has already issued red alert in Tamil Nadu due to heavy to very heavy rainfall as per the expectation of the regional meteorological center. The Anna University examinations have been postponed in three districts of the state as well. A cyclonic storm has been seen over the Comorin area and its neighborhood, which is going up to mid tropospheric levels.
