Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, said that the Telangana government is set to lay the foundation stone of its ‘integrated residential schools’ on October 11, a day before Dasara Festival. The schools will be built in about 20-25 acres of area with the budget of government at Rs 5,000 crore this year on the construction of the ‘Young India integrated residential schools’
About Rs 5,000 crore is going to be spent this year on the construction of the ‘Young India integrated residential schools’, the area is of 20-25 acres and would have students belonging to SC, ST, BC and other sections of the society.
“Our government believes that education is the great equaliser. By integrating SC, ST, BC and minority students under one roof, we are erasing the lines that divide our society,” he said.
The government intends to build at least one integrated residential school in every assembly constituency (total 119). These institutions will offer English medium education up to the 12th grade matching the international standards.
The facilities in many already existing residential schools are not satisfactory, while there are 1,023 government residential schools in the state, 662 of them do not have their own buildings, which indicates that half of the land hasn’t even been acquired, hence the installation of these schools would begin in about 20 constituencies where land has been acquired and it would be expanded to other places once the land acquisition gets complete.
