Schools in Hyderabad and across Telangana are set to have a total of nine holidays in January 2025. That will include the four Sundays, giving students an extended period of break.
The four general holidays this month, according to the Telangana school calendar are as follows:
1 January, 2025 | New Year’s Day |
13 January, 2025 | Bhogi |
14 January, 2025 | Sankranti/Pongal |
26 January, 2025 | Republic Day |
While Republic Day, which is observed on January 26 is a public holiday, it coincides with a Sunday this year.
Along with these general holidays, three optional holidays are also listed for the month: the birthday of Hazrat Ali on January 14, Kanuma which falls on January 15, and Shab-e-Meraj on January 25. Notably, January 14 is also Sankranti/Pongal, a general holiday, which overlaps with Hazrat Ali’s birthday.
Furthermore, students in government schools across Telangana will enjoy an additional holiday on January 11, as it falls on the second Saturday of the month. However, this schedule may vary for private schools, which might follow different rules regarding holidays.
Although not all Telangana schools will observe the optional holidays, many are likely to remain closed on Shab-e-Meraj. This holiday calendar provides students with a substantial break during the month.
