Ms. Sangeeta Bhatia, the Deputy Secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), assumed all the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Executive and Secretary of the CISCE starting from October 1. This decision was communicated through a circular issued by Dr. G Emanuel, the Chairman of the CISCE, on 29th September.
Ms. Sangeeta Bhatia, the Deputy Secretary, will continue to work in the post till the CISCE appoints the new chief executive and secretary, the circular issued to the principals of all CISCE-affiliated schools said. The position of Chief Executive and Secretary became vacant on October 1, as Mr. Gerry Arathoon, who has held the role since 2012, retired on September 30.
According to the circular, starting from October 1, 2023, Ms. Sangeeta Bhatia, Deputy Secretary (ISC), will assume all the duties and responsibilities previously held by the Chief Executive and Secretary. This arrangement will remain in place until CISCE appoints a new Chief Executive and Secretary.
Dr. G Emanuel, the Chairman of CISCE, expressed his appreciation for Mr. Arathoon’s contributions to the council. He stated that the council values and recognizes Mr. Arathoon’s tireless commitment and dedication to his responsibilities at CISCE, and they extend their best wishes to him for his retirement. Furthermore, Dr. Emanuel affirmed that CISCE remains dedicated to pursuing excellence and prioritizing the well-being and interests of students, as always.
