The Department of Public Instruction has issued The Orchids International School a fifth warning in as many months for allegedly breaking rules.
The Nagarabhavi branch of the school has received a notification from the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Bengaluru South 1 to stop admitting children even though it is not affiliated with the CBSE to teach classes five through eight.
On Tuesday morning, a group of parents gathered close to the school to ask this question and demand a monetary refund. The parents claim that the school administration “cheated” them by “illegally” providing CBSE education.
“We were astonished to learn two days ago that the school will be holding tests for classes 5 and 8 in accordance with the state syllabus. “How can they give exams using the state syllabus when we admitted our kids to CBSE?” outraged parents questioned.
An official from the department claimed in a statement to DH that the school administration had confirmed in writing that they were adhering to the state board curriculum.
