International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The theme for 2024 is ‘ Invest in women: Accelerate progress’. In recognition of this important occasion, Brainfeed will be highlighting diverse perspectives and insights from women leaders in the education domain.
In this context, we are pleased to present an article below by Ms. Shwetha Sumanth, Founder Director and Principal, Adelie International Preschool, Bengaluru.
I have evolved alongside my children at home and at school, embodying the roles of a nurturing mother, educator, and mentor, and maintaining a strong bond with my children. I treasure my role as a good friend with my siblings and colleagues. The support of my husband and in-laws has enabled me to strike a healthy balance between home and work. A special connection with my mother-in-law and her guidance has assisted me in making sound decisions. My son and daughter have brought added depth and purpose to my life. Through their upbringing, my journey in parenthood, and experiencing unconditional love, I have attained a sense of complete womanhood.
Education serves as a crucial instrument in transforming societal attitudes and behaviors toward respecting and treating women. I consider myself fortunate to be involved in this field and to contribute to the empowerment of women. I strive to cultivate an impartial and gender-neutral environment both at home and in the workplace. Through my work, I educate children and adults alike on the importance of respecting and treating women with dignity. Initiatives such as women’s safety programs, Women’s Appreciation Week, and health and hygiene drives are consistently among my top priorities.
