The Uttar Pradesh government declared that there are 85,152 openings for headmasters and assistant teachers in the state. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, when including shiksha mitras and instructors, the student-teacher ratio remains satisfactory, ensuring there is no shortage of educators.
According to Mr. Sandeep Singh, Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge), both Shiksha Mitras and instructors collaborate in educational activities under the Basic Education Department. The collective number of educators in basic education, including part-time instructors, Shiksha Mitras, and assistant teachers, currently amounts to 6,28,915 in the state. He made these remarks while addressing questions during the Question Hour in the legislative assembly’s budget session.
According to Mr. Sandeep Singh, the government has appointed 1,26,371 new teachers since 2017. There are 85,152 vacancies for headmasters and assistant teachers in the primary schools operated by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, compared to the sanctioned posts of 4,17,886. The enrollment of students in council primary schools totals 1,05,06,379, resulting in a student-teacher ratio of 31:1 (one teacher for every 31 students).
