Three Indian students, two from Karnataka and one from Rajasthan, have been listed among the top 50 finalists for the prestigious Chegg.org Global Student Prize 2024. This annual award, which includes a USD 100,000 prize, recognizes students making significant contributions to education and society. Their groundbreaking work spans diverse fields, from AI tools assisting the visually impaired to platforms enhancing women’s health.
The finalists include Prajwal Naveen Halalae, a 17-year-old from Bengaluru studying at BGS National Public School, who co-founded CloudAttack Edutech to address the global skill gap; Divaa Uthkarsha, a 16-year-old from Bengaluru studying at National Public School RNR, driven by personal tragedy to support children with type 1 diabetes through Project Surya; and Kavin Sharma, a 17-year-old from Jaipur studying at Jayshree Periwal International School, who developed platforms like Mauka and Janam to promote student empowerment and women’s health.
The three Indian students have been chosen for this year’s shortlist from a pool of over 11,000 nominations and applications spanning 176 countries. The prize is open to all students aged at least 16, enrolled in academic institutions or engaged in training and skills programs, which includes part-time and online course participants. The announcement of the top 10 finalists for the Global Student Prize 2024 is anticipated in September 2024, followed by the selection of the winner from this group by the Global Student Prize Academy, composed of highly accomplished individuals, later in the year.
