Inclusivity, global world view, critical thinking and cross-cultural engagement are a must if one is to succeed and make a difference to the world. The IB Career Related Programme is tailored to develop career opportunities
In today’s world we are witnessing drastic and staggering changes in the job profiles, expectations and requirements of the work industry. It has become a responsibility of schools to give their students the exposure and awareness to be able to make the right career choices, check the availability of lucrative careers and check the universities offering viable subject combinations and so on.
The Career Programme of IB is much in demand in the Western Countries and was launched in India a few years ago. The Programme, as the name indicates, is intended for students who are keento develop their career opportunities in particular fields by providing a foundation to support the students’ preparedness for success in the workforce. I was connected with WACP (World Academy of Career Programmes), which is in association with IB to support the IBCP in India.
We started the affiliation process of IBCP and became an IB World School offering IBCP (2 years) at Grade 11 level. The programme leads to further higher education, apprenticeships or employment. The CP is specifically developed for students who wish to engage in career-related learning while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement.
Main components of IBCP
The Core component is the essence of the programme where the four components within, that is, the Personal & Professional Skills, the Reflective Project, Service Learning (Community Engagement) and Language Development are intertwined in an excellent manner to give the student a pathway to forage in different aspects of learning and help them develop skills and competencies required for lifelong learning.
The component of academic rigorby choosing two to four IBDP subjects.

The approaches to teaching are based on IB Philosophy of Inquiry, Conceptual Understanding, Developing Global and Local Context, Effective Collaboration and Group Work, Differentiated Needs of the learners and Informed Formative and Summative Assessments.
