The highly anticipated Global Teacher Prize 2025, an initiative by the Varkey Foundation in partnership with UNESCO, has announced its top 10 finalists. This prestigious USD 1 million award honours educators who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their students and the teaching profession.
The finalists for the 2025 award are:

– Muhammad Nazmi – Malaysia
– Karina Sarro – Argentina
– Mohammad Imran Khan Mewati – India
– Mansour Al Mansour – Saudi Arabia
– Subash Chandar K – New Zealand
– Erick Hueck – USA
Since its inception, the Global Teacher Prize has received over 100,000 applications and nominations from around the world. The award is open to educators teaching students aged five to eighteen in government-recognised curricula, including early years and online teaching. To qualify, teachers must commit to at least 10 hours of teaching per week and intend to remain in the profession for the next five years.

Now in its ninth year, this prize not only recognises one extraordinary teacher but also highlights the invaluable role educators play in shaping society. Through celebrating their dedication, the initiative seeks to inspire and elevate the teaching profession worldwide.
The winner will be selected by the Global Teacher Prize Academy, a panel of distinguished figures, and will be announced at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, set to take place from 11-13 February 2025.
