On September 19, two schools from India—Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, and CM RISE Vinoba School, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh—were named finalists for the prestigious World’s Best School Prizes 2024. Organized by London-based T4 Education in collaboration with Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation, the awards aim to celebrate schools for their role in advancing education. The winners will share a $50,000 prize fund.
Ryan International School is competing in the “Environmental Action” category for its innovative projects to tackle water scarcity and pollution. The school’s initiatives, such as hydroponics and biogas plants, have earned national recognition. They have also been acknowledged by India’s Ministry of Environment for planting over 5,000 saplings in Delhi through the ‘Each One Plant One’ campaign.
CM RISE Vinoba School is a finalist in the “Innovation” category for its contributions to public education, particularly for tribal girls from urban slum communities. The school has revitalized education in the region by integrating learning with local festivals and encouraging community involvement, making education more accessible and relevant.
The World’s Best School Prizes honour schools in five categories: Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives. The winners, to be announced next month, will receive $10,000 each. All finalists are invited to the World Schools Summit in Dubai this November, where global education leaders will gather to discuss transforming education.
