Two additional groups of school principals from Punjab are on their way to Singapore for specialized training. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the training program, by sending off 60 school principals to participate in it.
According to Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, the state has implemented extensive training initiatives, both domestically and internationally, with the aim of enhancing teachers’ professional skills and acquainting them with global best practices in school education. The current training batches, comprising the fifth and sixth groups of 60 principals, were selected through a transparent online portal based purely on merit. These educators will undergo specialized training at NIEI Singapore, focusing on effective leadership skills, community involvement for school development, and maintaining school discipline. Punjab is actively working to provide international exposure to its primary school teachers as well, and they will soon embark on an educational journey to Finland, renowned for its world-class education system.
According to Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, since February, the state government has successfully trained four batches of principals, each comprising 30 to 36 participants. These training programs were conducted in collaboration with prestigious institutes such as PAI, Singapore, and NIEI, Singapore. The curriculum focused on imparting contemporary administrative and educational skills, including innovative teaching methods and mentorship, to the teachers.
With the latest batches sent to Singapore, the count has now reached 200 school principals and 100 headmasters who have received training of international repute, according to Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Previously, 140 principals have benefited from foreign training programs in Singapore, while 100 headmasters have undergone training at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
