International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, honours the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The theme for 2024 is ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress.’ In recognition of this important occasion, Brainfeed will be highlighting diverse perspectives and insights from women leaders in education.
In this context, we are pleased to present an article below by Shanthi Arunachalam (VELS VIDYASHRAM THALAMBUR (PGT Teacher)), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
In the shadows she lingers, unseen, unheard,
Though her strength could move mountains, her voice undeterred.
With every step she takes, there’s a weight she bears,
Unseen shackles of prejudice, unseen layers of stares.
She’s the one with dreams that touch the sky,
But society’s chains hold her wings awry.
Her talents, her skills, buried deep within,
By the biases of a world that’s yet to begin.
Yet in her eyes, there’s a fire that burns,
A yearning for freedom, a desire that churns.
For she knows her worth, though others may deny,
She’ll rise from the ashes; she’ll touch the sky.
On this day, let’s vow to break down the walls,
To lift up the silenced, to answer their calls.
For every woman who’s yet to see her light,
Let’s stand together, and make their futures bright.
No more will they hide in the shadows of fear,
For their time has come, their voices to cheer.
On this Women’s Day, let’s pave the way,
For a world where all women can have their say.
