Today, at the Rang Bhawan, All India Radio, Sansad Marg, New Delhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is set to launch the Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme. The launch event will also be broadcast live on the Education Ministry’s social media platforms and YouTube channels. The official announcement made on the Education Ministry’s X account can be accessed HERE.

Launched on September 7th, 2021, Vidyanjali, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, operates as an online portal facilitating direct connections between volunteers and schools. The primary goal is to address the knowledge, skill, human resource, and infrastructure gaps in schools by harnessing the potential available in civil society. Through this initiative, the government aims to mobilize contributions from various segments of society, including alumni of educational institutions, serving and retired teachers, scientists, government and semi-government officials, retired armed forces personnel, self-employed individuals, and salaried professionals. Schools benefit from the expertise and support of volunteers, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of the education system.

As of January 1, 2024, official government sources report that a total of 684,147 schools have been onboarded, and 446,898 volunteers have registered on the Vidyanjali portal. Volunteers have shown interest in various areas such as providing subject assistance, mentoring gifted children, teaching vocational skills, and sponsoring projectors, ceiling fans, laptops, and libraries for schools. With active participation from volunteers, the program has successfully impacted 6,078,832 students across the country.
