Union Education Minister to Launch Global Meet at JGU

Union Education Minister will inaugurate an international conference on “transforming universities” which will be hosted by O P Jindal Global University (JGU)  in collaboration with six global education networks scheduled on August 6 and 7, 2020. The meet will address ‘Reimagining and Transforming the University: Confluence of Ideas during and beyond the COVID-19 Disruption‘ in partnership with Association of Indian Universities, Laspau, Star Scholars Network, Coimbra Group of Brazilian Universities, Association of Commonwealth Universities and Qatar Foundation.

The conference will assemble more than 80 thought leaders from 6 continents and 15 countries across 15 thematic panel discussions, two special dialogues and four keynote addresses. A special panel constituted by women leaders from different universities will also be present.

“We are extremely excited to bring together 80+ thought leaders from 15 countries across 2 days to create some very thought-provoking dialogues to re-imagine and transform the idea of a University. With the current COVID-19 Pandemic, it is very important for leaders of higher education from across the globe, come together to re-define the future of universities, which will impact the lives of students, academics and nations. This global conference is hosted right after the launch of Indias National Education Policy 2020, which has outlined a vision statement,” commented C Raj Kumar, Professor and Founding Vice-Chancellor of O P Jindal Global University.

In the meet, the themes for discussions are kept in sync with a deep understanding of the transformation required in universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the topics that are to be covered by the session are– The Future of Universities in Asia, The Future of Internationalization: Implications for India, Institutional Resilience and Innovative Initiatives and Social Justice as the University Mission.

“We are humbled by the support of our education network partners in India and around the world,” added Prof Kumar.

The event is going to be a two-day session of intellectual exchanges among global leaders of higher education with the aim of transforming the future higher education during and post pandemic.
