Uttarakhand Government to hire temporary assistant teachers

by

Government high schools and inter-colleges in Uttarakhand will hire temporary assistant teachers to assist students in situations where permanent teachers are on extended leaves, such as for medical reasons, childcare, or maternity leave. This decision was made during a Monday meeting of the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Assistant teachers will be selected based on merit at the recommendation of the respective Block Education Officer.

The  decision was taken due to persistence vacancies in the secondary education department and the sustained absence of 1500-2000 teachers due to medical, maternity, or childcare leave, with durations ranging from 15 days to six months in the state.

Secretary of Higher Education, Shailesh Baugoli, stated that the continuous absence of teachers is affecting students’ studies and the overall quality of education drastically.

The cabinet approved a policy proposed by the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation.
