When one looks at Vedic education currently prevalent in our country, one finds that there are institutions like Paatshalas, Guru Shishya Parampara Units & Rashtriya Adarsh Veda Vidyalayas that have been running for a long time. These are all institutions that are not yet part of the ‘mainstream’ education fold.
Now, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has launched the Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Sanskrit Sikhsha Board (MSRVSSB). This board was launched to promote and formalize Vedic school education in India. The main aim of the MSRVSSB is to bring Vedic and Sanskrit school education into the mainstream.
The MSRVSSB will be awarding Veda Bhushan (10th) and Veda Vibhushan (12th) certificates to children who study in Vedic schools. These certificates would be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This initiative is expected to encourage and preserve India’s Vedic heritage.
