With the ever-evolving landscape of the tapestry of education, one needs to adapt to the new advancing education systems constantly. The vistas of education are ever-evolving, and with the advent of the internet, the teaching-learning process at school has moved beyond the four walls of the classroom. The chalk-and-talk method does not excite the tech-savvy learner much, hence inculcating new paradigms in teaching-learning with an effective and optimum emphasis on technology is of paramount importance.
Moreover, teaching life skills and values along with information and knowledge makes the education process wholesome. I believe – “Teaching kids to count is fine but teaching them what counts is best”. The students should have expertise and proficiency in knowledge to excel, but the flavour of socio-emotional skills is needed to prepare them for life.
As a leader, I have always felt that the persona and vision of the principal immensely impact the school. Being a principal can be challenging as well as rewarding, as it can mean striking the delicate balance between aspirations and reality, with the magic of intangibles!
As a school leader, being a woman brings in a unique perspective. A woman can provide a motherly touch to the upbringing and growth of every person in the institution. With active listening skills and good communication, connecting and building bridges between various stakeholders comes easily to me. Also, as a woman with inborn multitasking skills, I can take up several tasks with ease. I can be more attuned to social issues and I can sensitize students and work towards achieving greater inclusivity in the society. This helps in ensuring the students become well-rounded individuals. Having overcome gender stereotypes in leadership, I can encourage my students to not look at individuals from the lens of gender, but from the lens of humanity.
For me, leading the school, as a microcosm of society, is crucial to shaping young minds with values like empathy, equity and inclusion. By embracing a multifaceted approach to education, I foster an environment where students are empowered to thrive and navigate the challenges of the modern world with confidence and compassion.
In my capacity as a friend, philosopher, guide and mentor, I am committed to championing the noble cause of nurturing young minds, imbuing them with resilience and helping them reach the pinnacle in the lifelong pursuit of excellence.
I would like to conclude by saying, that I aspire to be the beacon of wisdom and hope, lighting the path of my students towards a future filled with perpetual possibilities.
A pragmatic Principal wears many hats – curriculum designer, event manager, conflict mediator, cheerleader, motivational maestro, innovation leader and above all a champion of change!
